How to Start and Stop an application on Startup in Mac

Apple MacWhenever we start our computer there starts some bunch of applications that sometime slows the startup and sometime we need some application to start automatically, instead of manually starting them whenever the computer starts such as Chat services. So today I will tell you How to start and stop applications on startup in Mac OS X

Starting and Stopping an Application is very easy in Mac (OS X), more easy than in windows, just follow the below steps :

  1. Go to System Preferences
  2. Then click on “Users & Groups”

  3. Then Select your account (username) and click on Login Items tab
    Just Drag the App in to the Login items fields to Start them on Startup

Stop an Application from Launching on Startup

Most of the time some bloated 3rd party software starts on computer startup but they cause the computer to start slowly resulting in waste of precious time. Used this to stop Google Chrome which used to start on startup and stay hidden which resulted in faster depletion of my laptop battery :(

  1. Select the Application to remove
  2. Press the Delete (-) button
    Just Select and press the delete Button

Start an Application on Startup

We need some software on Daily basis that we frequently use, so it is a good idea to start those software on Computer startup, so that they can save time. I used this for starting Chat and Mail Application (I have the habit frequently checking mails)

  1. Press the Add (+) Button
  2. Select the Application from the list
  3. and Press Add button
    Select and Press add button and the application will start on launch
