Hard Drives are not opening/working by Double-Click – Solution

A Friend of mine at College had a problem in his Laptop. He said “My C:/ drive is not Opening with Double-Click“. I immediately responded coz I had the Similar problem Once. In these cases the Drive Icon changes sometimes. So here is a Quick Solution to the Problem…

When you open C drive or other drives by double click it’ll pop up Open With windows and ask you to choose the program to open that drive.?Or errors such as

1. Access Denied
2. VBScript error with error code of 800A041F
3. Drive opens in new windows

Solution-I

Open control panel (classic view)/folder options. Scroll down advanced settings window and uncheck the “use simple file sharing”.Apply and right click on the volumes in question, select properties and click on “security” tab.(You need to set permissions on those volumes in the administrator rights.)

Microsoft KB 308419

There you’ll see detailed sharing permissions/restrictions for all relevant accounts on that particular drive/file/folder. (Taking that you have administrative permissions) click on “Administrators ([computer name]Administrators)” (first one from the top) and check allow on “full control” and click “apply”.

If you see your account name on the list, either remove it or allow full control. If you are only user on that PC I suggest removing it from the list, for you are administrator and comply with “administrators” permissions.

After setting the permission, click on the “advanced” button. In the first tab select “Administrators ([computer name]Administrators)” (same as before) and check the “Replace permissions entries on all child objects with entries shown here that apply to child objects” and apply

Solution-II

Normally when a virus infects a windows system which causes a drive opening problem, it automatically creates a file named autorun.inf in the root directory of each drive.

This autorun.inf file is a read only ,hidden and a system file and the folder option is also disabled by the virus. This is deliberately done by the virus in order to protect itself. autorun.inf initiates all the activities that the virus performs when you try to open any drive.

Follow the set of commands below to show and delete the autorun.inf

1. Log in as Administrator or user with administrator rights.
2. Turn Off system restore.
3. Start–>> Right Click My Computer–>> Properties–>> System Restore Tab–>>Turn off System Restore on all drives–>> Apply–>> Ok.
4. Launch Task Manager by pressing alt+ctrl+del
5. click on processes tab.
6. Find wscript.exe, If it is running end this process..
7. End EXPLORER.EXE process from Task Manager
8.
Open Start>>Run and type cmd and press enter. This will open a command prompt window. On this command prompt window type the following steps.
9. Type cd
10. Type attrib -r -h -s autorun.inf
11.

Type del c:autorun.* /f /s /q /a

del d:autorun.* /f /s /q /a

del e:autorun.* /f /s /q /a sparksspace019

12. Now type d: and press enter for d: drive partition. Now repeat steps 3 and 4. Similarly repeat step 5 for all your hard disk partition
13. Start>Run>Type ’regedit”. Navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogon

Find this key: userint.exe .make sure its value is Userinit”=”C:WINDOWSsystem32userinit.exe,If, It is not, than changed value to this value.
14. Restart your system .

Create Cool Images With a Wet Floor Effect Maker

Ever since the beginning of “web 2.0?, designers started creating logos or images with reflections that look pretty cool. Most of the time these images are done by professional in-house web designers which most of us bloggers don’t have the skill or access to. Fortunately there are two sites I came across that can add this effect to any image you’d like to apply it to.

The first one is called Wet Floor Maker which has several options such as angle, camera height, brightness, reflectivity, and more. Just upload your image and adjust the options to your liking and voila….you’ve got a cool new wet floor effect image. Here’s the end result of one test image I created:

The second site is called Image Reflection Generator and it doesn’t have nearly as many options as Wet Floor Maker does. The final image did look a bit more professional, however but you have no control over the angle of the reflection which I don’t like. Here’s the same image but after converting it with Image Reflection Generator:

These are convenient and quick ways to create images with a wet floor effect without any photo editing experience. The one thing I don’t like about both of these sites is you can’t preview the image before you click the “create image” button. Several times the end result image wasn’t exactly what I wanted so I had to go back and start over again. Kind of a pain but since the service is free, I can live with it. Try both out and let me know which you like better!

ViStart : Change Your XP Start Menu Like Windows Vista

When Windows Vista came, I was very excited to see its new features and graphics. But after using it for 2-3 months I switched onto Windows XP. There are many excellent features in Windows Vista that we like to see in XP too and one of that feature is Start Menu.

I really like the Start Menu of Windows Vista and especially that search option at the bottom. Now you can get the same Start Menu in XP too with the help of ViStart.

ViStart is a perfect start menu replacement for Windows XP. ViStart will now index all personal files and program files and give *ACTUAL instant results* that’s 4 times faster then the real Vista start menu….

Making India Proud – Abhinav Bindra Wins Olympic GOLD MEDAL

I have for long been dreaming that India will someday win ONE Olympic gold. With our population, someday, will come a stud boy who will be born with gills, and a shark’s tail and fin. He will swim faster than others, or at least eat up the faster ones and eventually win the medal.

Abhinav Bindra Wins Olympic GOLD MEDAL for India

Abhinav Bindra became the first ever Indian to win a gold medal at the olympics. All the gold medals India got before were in Hockey which is a team event.
Bindra wins Men’s 10m Air Rifle goldThis creates a history in Indian Sports.
Abhinav Bindra won this in 10M Air Rifle Shooting event. These were the scores in the event
Abhinav Bindra’s Scoring / shooting sequence was 100, 99, 100, 98, 100 and 99.
Finland’s Henri Hakkinen qualified first for the event with a score of 598/600 after shooting a series of 100, 100, 99, 100, 100 and 99.
China’s Qinan Zhu was a point adrift of Hakkinen with a series of 100, 100, 100, 100, 99 and 98.
Congratulations Abhinav Bindra for winning the GOLD MEDAL for India.

He Had Made Every Indian Proud…

The First Olympic Gold Medal Won by India was in 1928 Olympics in hockey. India defeated the host country Holland 3-0 in the finals. Legendary Dhyan Chand scored two goals in the final. Indian goalkeeper Richard Allen had the unique distinction of not conceding a single goal throughout the tournament. The gold medal won by the Indian hockey team in 1928 was the first Olympic gold medal won by Asia in the modern Olympics. India has won a total of eight gold medals in hockey at Olympics. From 1928 Amsterdam Olympics to 1956 Melbourne Olympics India won six consecutive gold medals at hockey. The two other gold medals for India came in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and the 1980 Moscow Olympics.

But I have a Question .. Why Do you think that even with such a large population, India Still can’t produce Good Enough Athletes to excel in the fields of Sports ??

While we wait for that to happen, we should use our present resources to try and win a medal. The operative word is ‘leverage’. In a country where great athletes like Major Dhyan Chand Singh die in poverty, there is no hope for budding athletes, and given the present international scenario, you have to give up your job and prepare full time in order to excel.

What Do YOU think ??
